Barry Jackman: Co-ordinator/Project Manager

Island born. Thirty-seven years teaching English at home and abroad. Married for 50 years to Ruth who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s five years ago. Considerable first-hand experience of being a carer. Volunteer at Newport, East Cowes, The Bay and Ventnor Alzheimer Cafés. Research Network Volunteer for Alzheimer’s Society. Member of Integrated Action for Dementia Group – IW and ‘Expert By Experience’ for Care Quality Commission”. Barry is a Trustee of Carers Isle of Wight.

 

Maggie Bennett

Island born. Over thirty-years experience of working in care and support services. MD of Island Healthcare, CEO and founder of Alzheimer Café Isle of Wight and Director of Inclusion Outright CIC. Maggie is also a workplace trainer in dementia and safeguarding and delivers presentations for people with dementia and their families at the Alzheimer Cafés and across the Island. Member of Integrated Action for Dementia Group – IW.

 

Elizabeth (Lizzie) Martin

Born in Yorkshire with thirty years experience working in the care and support industry. Lizzie is Manager of Carers IW and a Trustee of Alzheimer Cafes Isle of Wight. Lizzie is a familiar face at all Alzheimer Cafés, the Carers Lounge at St. Mary’s as well as numerous other venues across the Island. She is also a member of Integrated Action for Dementia Group – IW.
